Russian Cheese Danish
recipe . . .
Filling:
Dough:
- 1 cup farmer
cheese
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 1
egg
- 2 eggs
- 2 tbs.
sugar
- 3 tbs. sugar
- 1 tbs.
flour
- 4 tbs. butter or margarine
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla
extract
- 1 packet of active dry yeast
- 2 tbs.
raisins
- 1/2 cup milk or water
Instructions:
- Dissolve yeast in warm milk or water. Mix in sugar, eggs,
and sifted flour.
- Knead for 5-8 minutes until dough is homogenous. Add
softened butter or margarine, mix and let rise for 2-1/2
hours in warm place.
- Punch the dough and let rise again for 40-50 minutes.
Prepare filling by mixing all the ingredients together.
Punch the dough and roll into a tube.
- Cut into 10 equal parts and roll each into a ball.
- Place on a lightly greased baking sheet. Flatten and
indent each in the middle with a glass. Put the filling into
the indent and brush the edges with beaten egg.
- Bake at 350-375°F degrees for 20 minutes or until golden
brown.

Country Meat Pie Recipe

Filling:
Dough:
- 2 large onions,
minced
- 3 cups all purpose flour
- 2 tbs.
butter
- 2 tbs. sugar
- 1 tbs. olive
oil
- 1 cup + 2 tbs. butter or margarine
- 1 lb. lean ground
beef
- 3/4 tsp. salt
- 2-1/2 tsp. salt
- 2 tbs. fresh dill
- 2 hard-boiled eggs,
minced
- 2 tbs. sour cream
Instructions:
- Mix together flour, salt and sugar. Cut in the butter or
margarine until the dough is the consistency of cornmeal.
Add sour cream, mixing well.
- Wrap in waxed paper and chill for 2 hours. While the dough
is chilling, prepare
the filling.
- Roll the dough out in 1/8" to 1/4" thick. With a
round cookie cutter, cut out circles 4"
in diameter.
- Place a generous tablespoon of filling on one half of each
circle, fold the other half over to form half-moons. Crimp
the edges with a fork to seal.
- Place the pies on a lightly greased baking sheet. Bake at
375°F degrees for 20 minutes
or until golden brown. |
